The overnight parking location is small and compact and very near to the river, the realxing sound of water soon becomes the solo as the odd car drives past, all was quite around 8pm. There is no internet or mobile reception, which given the purpose of getting away from society is heaven sent.

You can walk a short ways on a footpath towards Luds church but I left that for tomorrows adventure

the Mill is a very short walk and with a ehad torch is a pleasant little stroll as the piperstral bats fly over head. It can get very muddy so be aware of where you park and dont let anyone block you in, so reverse park is the way to go.

Parking is alone a mile or so single road, there are some passing places along the route, but take it slow.

You will eventually come to tri junction right on the tops, this is where we will stop. There is an icecream van parked here as well, bellowing out fumes and diesel fumes, and the constant sound of a generator going, it really does spoil the atmosphere, and having returned from my hike saw, bottle and ice cream plastic tubs thrown on the floor, the ice cream van does not provide a bin, people really are scum.

Initally it was foggy, but just like the Lake District it has its own mini weather system, one min, cloudy, the next raining and then glorious sunshine. Be prepared for rain, and most importantly md.. oh yes be prepared for mud, with Luds Church being popular.. footfall = mud. I also saw many runners, why you would choose to run on paths in a tourist hot spot is beyond me truly.

Overall Luds church is a great site, in summer it would look even more impressive but the amount of people coming to view it would be unbareable. Better to go really early in a morning, or later around sun set, in the snow it would it would look amazing.
